The 21st century has brought us many technological advances. One of my favorites is Invisalign, or clear, almost invisible braces! When given the option between metal braces and wires, or clear, easy to wear aligners, the choice is clear. Many of my patients are asking questions about Invisalign, so I decided to write this post to answer most of them.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign works for teenagers to adults of all ages. If you are a candidate for regular braces then you probably are a candidate for Invisalign. The beauty of Invisalign is that not only is is invisible and more comfortable to wear, I can perform the entire procedure in my office which allows me to follow your treatment in whole! No referral to an orthodontist is needed.
I frequently perform Invisalign on patients that had braces when they were younger and now after years of not wearing their retainers their teeth moved again. We quickly straigthen their teeth and keep them from moving ever again! This can take as little as 6 months! What a great service that has been.
My philosophy in dentistry has always been to maintain as much tooth structure as possible. Now with Invisalign we can straighten the teeth prior to any major cosmetic treatment allowing for significantly less tooth reduction for such procedures as veneers or crowns!
One of my favorite uses for Invisalign has been the ability to close spaces without using fillings or touching the teeth! This goes quick and makes a huge difference.
How do I select an Invisalign provider?
Many dentists and orthodontists offer Invisalign now. Who do you select as your provider? I can only tell you what I would do. One of the benefits of Invisalign is that you can have a general dentist manage the case since he/she knows your dental condition best. You already see that dentist on a regular basis and have a good relationship. I would select an Invisalign provider that I trust, that is known to provide premium quality dentistry, and has a reputation for excellence. Why? Because you have only one smile, and it directly reflects “you” to the outside world. Don’t compromise with something as important as your smile. Daily I see patients and second opinions who are so unhappy with their smile that they just don’t smile anymore. It is sad. A smile is a window into your soul. Select an Invisalign provider that can not only straighten your teeth but give you the smile that you deserve.

hello i have always known that i would need braces and then i thought i would like to look into somthing other then braces so then i found invisalign! i only have two questions, one is it pricy two i’m 11 am I qualified?
Dear Jessica, it is very hard to know if you are a candidate. You are a bit young, but I would have to suggest you see a dentist like myself or an orthodontist for a free consultation. Invisalign braces cost about the same as regular braces. Most importantly, you need to be taking excellent care of your mouth, meaning brush, floss and watch your diet. Then braces will do wonders! Invisalign is a great choice for teens to straighten their teeth without the negatives associated with regular wired braces. The cost of Invisalign is similar to regular braces and many people use Care Credit or some other simple payment plan. You would need to have an adult sign up as you are only 15, but I would suggest you simply stop by the office and lets see what options you have.
